Tadulako Local Initiative for Sustainable Economics
TALISE: Tadulako Local Initiative for Sustainable Economics is a peer-reviewed academic journal published by the Master’s Program in Economics, Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Tadulako. The journal is positioned as a critical platform for advancing theoretical and empirical scholarship at the intersection of regional economics, sustainable development, and Global South studies.
Despite significant progress in economic theory, dominant frameworks in regional and environmental economics remain largely shaped by Global North paradigms, often overlooking the institutional diversity, socio-ecological complexity, and contextual heterogeneity of developing and peripheral regions. TALISE addresses this gap by promoting context-sensitive, place-based, and empirically grounded research that challenges universalistic assumptions and contributes to more inclusive, pluralistic, and globally relevant economic theories.
The journal encourages interdisciplinary contributions that integrate perspectives from regional science, ecological economics, development studies, and innovation systems. It particularly prioritizes research on coastal and maritime economies, rural and underdeveloped regions, natural resource governance, environmental sustainability, climate change adaptation, and regional innovation systems. TALISE values studies that not only apply existing theories but also refine, extend, or reconceptualize them through evidence derived from local and regional contexts.
By foregrounding the epistemic significance of local knowledge, institutional embeddedness, and spatial diversity, TALISE seeks to bridge the persistent divide between global sustainability agendas and grounded economic realities. The journal aspires to foster theory-building that is both analytically rigorous and contextually meaningful, thereby contributing to more equitable and sustainable development pathways.
Through a rigorous double-blind peer review process and strict adherence to international publication ethics, TALISE is committed to becoming a globally recognized scholarly outlet that shapes emerging debates in regional and sustainable economics while amplifying underrepresented perspectives from the Global South.
